Chai Me Co Hits the Road

Chai Me co. hit the road!

We’ve spent the last three months in Tims’ hometown of Townsville, in North Queensland. We attended a regular market at Cotters on a Sunday, which helped us embed into a community of small businesses and we also found ourselves at the Renegade Handmade markets every first Sunday of the month. The locals embraced us and Chai Me grew more than we could have imagined, for which we are so grateful!

Expanding ourselves at the local markets wasn’t the only thing on the agenda for us whilst in Townsville, we also spent the last three months building Chai Me’s new home and office on wheels; Bessie the Bus, a 1993 Toyota Coaster. Newly fitted out with a kitchen, lounge area, dining table, indoor bathroom plus outdoor shower, double bed, packing cupboard and not forgetting the expansive roof rack, Bessie is fully kitted out to travel Australia and bring our chai to a town near you! (Please see our latest highlight section on instagram to see the bus build).

Our road trip begins through Northern Queensland, as a test run for Bessie to check everything works smoothly. As always there were some original teething problems after just a few days but we made it safely to our first pop up market in Mossman, followed by Port Douglas the following day. We were absolutely spoilt with both venues, set amongst gorgeous trees at Mossman and next to the historical St Mary’s by the sea in Port Douglas. We now find ourselves in the Atherton Tablelands and we can’t wait to see what the weekend markets have in store!

If you think there is a market local to you that we should visit, let us know in the comment section below!
